This is normally the first race of the season for many North American triathletes that want to get a head start before Oceanside/Galveston. I fell in love with the idea of doing this race. Logistics are something to make note of for this race though. Matt Hanson’s approach to this race logistically was different than that of the other races, mainly because it is cheaper and he knows how to do it. Danielle mentions where she stayed and recommends it. This is a two transition race with an amazing run course. The out and back looped bike course is very challenging with the wind. The swim is just beautiful though. Even with salt water it is an amazing course. They have showers and a ‘kitty pool’ to rinse things off before bike mount. There is a small hill out of T1 to be aware of, but after that it is mostly flat. There is cobble stone on the bike ride with speed bumps. Watch your bottles.
Would I do this race? Yes
