141 – IRONMAN© Mont Tremblant – Richie Szeliga
In this episode of the Pursuit of the Perfect Race, I talk with my friend, athlete, and amazing person Richie Szeliga. Richie and I have been working together since the beginning of the year and have had our fair share of bad weather races such as the Boston Marathon, a home grown 70.3 triathlon that was also in the rain. The ongoing joke was we need it to rain because we don’t know how to race in anything other than the rain. Thankfully it held off. In this conversation Richie and I talk about the training we did going into this race and how we adjusted expectations along the way to accommodate the changing of goals. We dive straight into the details of what it’s like to finish as a first timer but also what it’s like to only miss one single workout over the previous eight months. The time management skills, dedication, and ability to recover from hard sessions coupled with a solid taper worked amazing for him. Richie, thank you again for allowing me to be a part of your endurance journey, I look forward to your continued growth in the sport.
