This race is amazing on multiple different levels. The organization is top notch. I volunteered here in 2018 and got to meet some of the absolute best race organizers in the business. The Race Director himself was out in the cold, wet, conditions all day. I talked with him by accident asking him if he needed anything and he refused to accept any support for himself. He was the one that was telling people at the bike cut off they didn’t make it in time. His humbleness, attention to detail, and personality shine as a true leader through this event. The swim had to be shortened with minutes to the start time. He organized a new course, shorter, and safer for athletes with the help of his team. The course itself is hard, but the conditions in 2018 is something that will be talked about for years to come. Many athletes, including many professionals did not finish. Because of the experience I saw so many have at this race, I would do this race in a heartbeat. The volunteers working here are those that make the experience worth it. Well done Louisville, well done.
